The founding pillar and hallmark of AASBEA is providing advice and services pursuant to helping firms -particularly minority, immigrant, and women-owned firms- go global. From explaining the export and import laws, regulations, and procedures of different countries, AASBEA services have expanded to providing “real-time” business linkage services, including designing web portals that integrate, organize and disseminate such information, to counseling firms on how to find buyers, sellers, and penetrate markets. The US is party to FTAs with Australia, Bahrain, Chile, Israel, Jordan, Morocco, Peru, Oman, and Singapore, and has signed multilateral agreements with CAFTA and NAFTA. In addition, the US is party to the GATT, and has agreements with Panama, Korea, and Columbia that are pending congressional approval. The U.S. is also in negotiations on trade agreements with Malaysia, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) which includes Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, and Swaziland. AASBEA works with US and foreign SMEs to counsel them about how to take advantage of these agreements. |
