AASBEA is increasingly focusing on highlighting initiatives domestically and globally that involve the greening of communities through the reducing, reusing, and recycling behaviors of the people at grassroots levels. Profiling what people are doing, how they are doing it, and why they are doing it is at the core of AASBEA’s consultancy, research, and publications on the subject. Hundreds of conversations with individuals in different communities have thus far culminated in two publications that put “color” in the green phenomenon by demonstrating that African Americans and Hispanics also have a stake in going green. Similar work and initiatives will ensue over the years and will involve profiling women in developing countries, SMEs, youth, and others that are innovating ways to live more sustainable.
